7:00 PM - 9:00 PMCongregation Or Ami
Dr. Leah Hochman asks: Are we what we eat? Together let’s investigate the culture, history and meaning of food and the assumptions that Jews have about what it is that we consume. Jewish foodways—the cultural, religious, social, economic related to food consumption and and political practices production—help unpack and uncover a lot about the meaning of what we put in our mouths, our choices about food, and how food operates and performs in Judaism and Jewish culture. Food choices reveal the values and judgments we have about who belongs and with whom we are willing to break bread.
