What is an OR AMI CENTER FOR JEWISH PARENTING Workshop?
At each workshop, Or Ami presents special guests who help you up your parenting game through an engaging lecture, breakout session, and/or role-playing scenario. With these tools, you will successfully tackle some of the challenges that come with raising a Jewish adolescent. We are happy to provide childcare if it allows you to fit us into your schedule. About this Workshop:
We are living in a time where young adults are living at home longer and not entering the workforce at the same rate and pace that earlier generations did. Many have not been given the skills to launch themselves into independence and the professional world. Head of School Mark H. Shpall and Dr. Lise Spiegel, School Counselor, address how parents can create the family dynamics and approaches necessary for children to launch into their own personal journeys. They guide parents to cultivate grit and resilience within their children, developing their ability to face exciting and challenging experiences with strength and grace.

Mark H. Shpall is Head of School at de Toledo High School, was a founding faculty member, and has previously served as teacher and its Dean of Students. He holds a JD from the University of Southern California and an MA Ed from Pepperdine University. He is developing a forward-looking vision for educating the next generation of Jewish teenagers.

Shmirat Haguf v’Hanefesh: Caring for the Teen Body, Mind and Soul is a joint project of Congregation Or Ami and the Caring Community Foundation (caringcf.org). The project is Paying It Forward in loving memory of Joan and Richard Katz.
