Presenter: Lori Getz

Since 2004 Lori Getz has worked as an Instructional Technologist in Los Angeles, CA. She has a Master of Arts in Educational Technology from San Diego State University. In September 2008, Lori Getz founded Cyber Education Consultants and began speaking to students, parents, and educators about Internet safety, security, and ethics. Since that time, Lori Getz has reached out to Internet users across the world! Her mission is simple -- to help bridge the gap between a young generation of digital natives and their parents and teachers.

Parents explore the way to think about their own social media use as well as the way that social media impacts their teen. The discussion will focus on how social media can negatively impact their teens own self worth and effective ways of monitoring and focusing social media use.

Shmirat Haguf v’Hanefesh: Caring for the Teen Body, Mind and Soul, is a joint project of Congregation Or Ami and the Caring Community Foundation (caringcf.org). Paying it forward in loving memory of Joan and Richard Katz. The project is part of the L.A. Jewish Teen Initiative’s Focus on Teen Wellness, co-funded by the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles and the Jim Joseph Foundation with seed funding provided by the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles.
